The business industries in Singleton are based largely on mining, cattle and military sectors. With over eighteen large mines and two power stations, Mining and power generation are the towns two largest employment providers. Singleton's third largest industry is the training of defence personnel, this has played a large part in the development of Singleton's economy and the attraction of a large community. The School of Infantry at Whittingham provides a large number of jobs, ranging from cleaners and cooks to infantry personal and engineers.
